Jewelry staples and statement pieces are always an easy way to take a look to the next level. Since I’m on the road more often than not, I try to pack pieces that can transition from day-to-night seamlessly with a variety of outfits. While my personal style veers more towards boho-chic, for meetings and events I tend to stick with more structured pieces and color blocks. Careful packing strategies are critical to long-term travel and business success so each piece has it’s own purpose and place in my luggage.
That’s why I swear by Akola jewelry pieces. Akola is a non-profit social enterprise that invests 100% of its sales into systems that empower women in extreme poverty. All of their jewelry is hand-made by women in Africa and the love is clearly defined by the quality of craftsmanship that goes into each individual piece.
I really enjoyed the durability of the jewelry pieces. While I was in San Francisco and New York, temperatures would reach 90 degrees (or higher) and I would be shuttling my things to and from airports and subways without much consideration for anything other than my departure time. Akola stood up to the challenge and opened me to various compliments along the way.
